As Chesapeake’s newest exclusive private club, we take pride in delivering a safe environment, personal service, and providing an excellent social space for our members and their guests. Our members are comprised of various professionals with differing backgrounds, creating a great atmosphere of camaraderie and diversity in our activities.
All memberships offer full access to the facility and club events.

Application Process
- All applicants for membership must be proposed by one and endorsed by two active members, none of whom shall be current Board members.
- Letters of support must be written by the proposer and both endorsers, and each must also fill out a confidential sponsor questionnaire. [Click here for guidelines on writing a letter of recommendation.] The questionnaire will be provided to each sponsor directly by the Membership Board.
- Upon receipt of the complete Membership Application by the Club with letters of support and completed questionnaires, packages are forwarded to the Membership Committee.
- After consideration of all information by the Membership Committee, applicants for membership are voted on by the Membership committee.
Application Timeline and Prospective Start Dates
The entire membership process can take up to 45-60 days depending on when we receive the application and is contingent on the date of the Board meeting. The completed application AND letters of recommendation must be in the office before the application can be reviewed.
Letter of Recommendation Assistance
We hope these guidelines will aid you in writing a letter of recommendation for the proposed member you are sponsoring. By including such information, it will help our Membership Committee become familiarized with the proposed new member and their family. Remember, these letters are often the only way the committee has to learn about proposed new members.
- Include general background information on the proposed new member and his or her family. This includes items such as where they grew up, the schools they attended, and their interests both professionally and within the community.
- Include how you know the proposed new member. Do you know them socially? Professionally? Are they your neighbor?
- Include how often you interact with the proposed new member.
- Include why you think the proposed new member would be a good member of SHEK SCC.
- Include comments about their personality and any personal accounts or anecdotes you have about the proposed new member/family.
